Innovation award for a project team with a simulator that makes tram traffic safer and a tangible experience: the Bavarian joint project of Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (IABG), Stadtwerke München GmbH (SWM) and GERSYS GmbH has been awarded the Coup de Cœur ‘Intelligence for Mobility, Transport and Logistics’. Project manager Christian Dörfler (IABG) is delighted with the honour and thanks those involved in the project: ‘Developers are shaping the future of public transport together with the operator — intelligently, safely and sustainably.’ The prize was awarded by the Centre for Transportation & Logistics Neuer Adler e.V. (CNA).
Bringing the future of tram transport to life
The tram simulator faithfully reproduces urban tram traffic. In collaboration with Optify, an impressive 3D environment model was created that simulates realistic traffic situations. Users experience tram operations from the driver’s and passenger’s perspective — also via virtual reality.
The innovative tram simulator for safe tram transport of the future enables the virtual testing of modern assistance systems. Transport companies can use the simulation to develop reliable requirement specifications, thereby saving costs and gaining planning certainty.
Tram simulator as a training and development platform
The innovative tram simulator for safe tram traffic of the future is not only used to develop technology, but also to train drivers. Driver training, assistance system tests and new construction planning can thus be prepared realistically, safely and efficiently.
Virtual reality for realistic traffic situations
Thanks to VR technology, passengers and residents can also experience future tram routes virtually. The innovative tram simulator for safe tram transport of the future thus helps to promote acceptance of new infrastructure projects right from the planning phase.
